You know what guys? The more I think about it, the more appalled and pissed off I get.
I had
To give Fiona
A Mother
Fucking
Motive
There are a few things a fan normally task themselves with inside the fandom they normally reside in.
Making Fan art.
Coming up with theories and character development summaries
And occasionally pointing out a contradiction or discrepancy and arguing with people about which is right or wrong (Something you do an awful lot of if you read the Archie Sonic comics)
A fan should not have to come up with a basic. fucking. motive. for their favorite character. Unless it's an angle the writer is working. With Ian, this is not the case. He wanted a villainess and by jove was he going to get a villainess, character motivation and development be damned.
You see this Ask Answer I did?

And this fanfict?

Yeah. In a good story, these wouldn't exist. Because it would have already been covered. But no. Ian didn't want to explore the idea that the Freedom Fighters might have brought about a rival because of their own mistrust. He didn't want to introduce a character who suffered from an unhealthy need to be accepted by people, one that might lead to her own self destruction if she isn't careful. He didn't want to even consider the other relationships she's had with other characters and what all those partnerships could have meant or what they were like, instead lumping her and Scourge with the fucking Destructix.
Ian has a one track mind when it comes to writing. If he wants to do something, he just does it. No real thought placed behind it. Even the St John turning evil thing, which everyone claims has the most perfect fucking explanation, still has one thing, one issue, one solitary scene that makes the entire thing just fall to pieces.
Don't get me wrong, I love it when people say to me "Oh man, I loved that chapter. It actually made a lot of sense!" or "Congratulations. In one Ask you've made Fiona a more likable character to me then Ian has been able to do in several issues." but the truth of the matter is that I'm not going to get to everybody. Everyone who reads the comic won't see my AskBlog or read my Fanfiction. And it's not some egotistical shtick that I normally like to play, I just hate the fact that this guy is getting paid to churn out complete crap every month while just disregarding basic character and story structure like this. Fiona's state is just the tip of the iceberg in things he's done that have just left me completely dumbstruck.
But don't take my word for it. Ask the fans of Vector, before it turned out he was secretly from Downunda. The worse location in the entire book.
Ask the Monkey Khan fans, before he was turned into a boring prince charming stylized clump of pudding.
Ask the Babylon Rogues fans, before they had their back-story just mashed together with the Battle Bird Armada and ultimately ruined.
Ask the Sally fans, who remember the time when Sally was allowed to be passive aggressive, neuritic, and self-righteous. Not the answer to every problem and discrepancy.
Ask the Amy fans, who think it might have actually been interesting if her and Sally butt heads, or that her fan girl role was pretty freaking funny.
Ask the Rouge fans, who might have liked the fact that she stopped Scourge from killing Locke, but were left scratching their heads when she seemed okay with causing mass genocide in Treasure Team Tango.
Ask the people who might have actually liked Geoffrey St. John and Hershey.
Anyway, this has gone one too long. I just needed to vent. That's what people normally do when they feel as though their favorite character is being screwed.
